Stanley Instrumentation & Electrical (SIE) recently completed two major maintenance outages carried out simultaneously across the Taupō district, demonstrating our capability to deliver concurrent projects for key geothermal clients. A team of 18 SIE personnel supported Contact Energy at the Tauhara Geothermal Plant and Mercury Energy at the Ngā Awa Pūrua Power Station on the Rotokawa steam field.
Despite the complexity of running two outages at once, our team ensured smooth, safe completion of critical maintenance work. These projects highlighted our flexibility, coordination, and technical capability.
Tauhara Geothermal Plant
Our team delivered:
- Instrumentation and control equipment calibration and servicing
- Calibration of safety‑critical instrumentation
- Functional testing of the safety instrumented system
The work was completed on time through strong collaboration and planning, supporting the reliability of this key contributor to New Zealand’s renewable baseload generation.
Ngā Awa Pūrua Power Station
Services included:
- Pressure and flow transmitter calibration
- Clearing tapping points and filling impulse lines with glycol
- Electrical motor disconnections/reconnections and testing
- Full service of the NAP pH monitoring system
The team demonstrated adaptability and precision, completing all tasks to client expectations and within the outage schedule. This work supported the performance of one of New Zealand’s largest geothermal stations and its steam field assets.
